Audiences want that cheery feel-good spirit when they walk out of the theater this time of year and its bleak look and depressing storyline are going to send people running (not speaking of my own opinion here, just the public's). Two years ago Dimension also got it wrong by releasing The Mist around the exact same time and it came dead last out of that week's five new releases as well as some stuff that was already playing.
