    marfa film festival

In its third year, the Marfa Film Festival is already proving to be that little film festival that could.  It's no surprise that Marfa is becoming known for film, two of the best films of the decade so far were shot there, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

The third annual Marfa Film Festival opens on the 5th of May. The 2010 festival program includes 20 shorts, 17 features, several guest-programmed mixes and live events.  You can get more film program details at marfafilmfestival.org. The festival program boasts six world premieres, one international premiere, two North American premieres, four USA premieres and eight Texas premieres.  See the complete festival lineup here.

Check out some of my top picks for the festival after the jump:

    RED SHIRLEY

As you can see the festival has some really amazing films in its small (compared to other festivals) lineup.  But the fun doesn' t stop there, there are live music performances, sponsored lounges, outdoor screenings, and tours of the historical sites and amazing art that Marfa has to offer.
