It’s a film that has already passed through the glove of a notable director with Steven Soderbergh. Now MONEYBALL is looking to a few other worthy big-hitters to potentially bring the project home. The first being CAPOTE director Bennett Miller and the second being (500) DAYS OF SUMMER director Marc Webb. Both have had quite the hit on their hands with their first efforts, so it makes sense why they would be considered for a high profile project like MONEYBALL.

The film already has Brad Pitt and Demetri Martin attached to star and was set to play ball before suddenly having a time out called on it. So, Soderbergh left the mound, forcing Sony to look to a relief. At this point, nothing is in writing but it is being said that both Webb and Miller are the potential players the studio is looking at in order to get the ball rolling on the film.

MONEYBALL, based upon the novel of the same name, focuses on the Oakland Athletics’ unconventional coaching methods and general manager Billy Beane. The novel is said to explore “the team’s modernized, analytical, sabermetric approach to assembling a competitive baseball team, despite Oakland’s disadvantaged revenue situation.”
