82nd Oscar nominations announced
Although I’m not always the biggest fan of award shows, it’s impossible for me not to get caught up in the drama and glamour of the Oscars. Well, it’s that time of year again. Today, at 5:38 AM Pacific Time, Academy President Tom Sherak and Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway announced the nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards.
Leading the pack are AVATAR (no surprise there) and THE HURT LOCKER, each with nine nominations, including Best Picture and Directing. Most of AVATAR’s nominations, though, are in technical categories and I think the real battle will be between THE HURT LOCKER and UP IN THE AIR. Both films were brilliant and worthy of every award their sure to win. Besides, I really don’t want to see James Cameron win because he’ll probably have a moment of silence for the Na’vi who died because of corporate greed right before declaring that he’s “the king of the world.” Or the king of space, for that matter.
The big event is on March 7th, so you only have a little over a month to plan your party and get your Oscar Bingo cards ready. I could write about this for an hour, but I should get to what everyone wants to see, the full list, which you can read after the jump!
