    by: Chase Whale
    June 5th, 2009

Please read Rusty's review of the film!

AWAY WE GO opened with a limited release today - but doesn't open in Dallas until next Friday - so we're going to celebrate it's upcoming release by giving our hip readers a chance to see it for free!

Here's what we're going to do: In the comments below, tell us the perfect place to live in the US and why - get creative! We'll pick four winners and here's what they'll get:

1 AWAY WE GO shirt (one size fits all)
1 Paperback screenplay of the film
1 Mini poster of AWAY WE GO
2 reserved seats to our Thursday screening of AWAY WE GO (MUST live near Dallas - where the screening is being held!)

I know this might be a big bummer for our readers that live out of state, so the person with the most creative story following the contest guidelines will get a 27X40 poster of AWAY WE GO autographed by BOTH John Krasinski AND Maya Rudolph! How about that?!?!

Winners will be announce Wednesday, June 10. Good luck friends!

I'm thinking a U.S. protectorate; the Federated States of Micronesia maybe? Reasons include: their use of giant stones as money, Emelihter Kihleng, the first Micronesian to publish a book of poems in English, and the largest island of the group, Pohnpei, formerly Ponape, a long since tucked away tropical haven under U.S. indirect control, among whose residents have a very high rate of an extreme form of color blindness known as maskun…and don't forget Nan Madol.

Denton, TX is the best place to live because you can walk or bike anywhere.

I think it would be super awesome to live in a redwood tree out in California. As a child I aspired to have a tree house, and I think it would fulfill my childhood dream if a tree was my house. The fact that I would already be out in California on the west coast is amazing as is. And the redwood national forest is oceanside. I know it's probably, most definitely illegal, but I think it would be a fun rebellious task. And when I have children I could dress them up as Ewoks and terrorize Park rangers for kicks. Just hope the black bears don't get confused…

Hershey, Pennsylvania – so I'm never far from chocolate :) Plus, I always thought it would be cool to live on the northeast coast near the most historical region in of our country :)

Ruby Falls, Tennessee. I lived there when I was a kid; it's filled with amazing caves and waters, heavy wooded areas, and lots of farm land. It's super serene, but close enough to Nashville that you can have the best of both the urban and rural life styles.

I think the perfect place to live would be the area of Alabama where "Big Fish" took place. Beautiful, verdant forests and fields that make your feet itch to crunch through fallen leaves, and quirky inhabitants to make even the most boring day an adventure. Plus, the producers for Big Fish also brought Sam Mendes American Beauty, and since he's the director of Away We Go…it all feels right somehow…

I've never been to San Diego but have heard nothing but great things about it. For me an ideal location would be somewhere I can hike mountains one day and lie on the beach the next. You have the best of both worlds in San Diego with the beach and mountains within reasonable driving distance. You're far enough from LA to get away from the hussle, but close enough to drive there, if you so desire. Not far from Mexico as well. Plus AC Slater was born in San Diego, so that should be reason enough!

I would have to pick Hana, Maui. It would be nice to just kick back on a beach and hit a luau once in a while!

Menard, Texas. One of it's main attractions includes a "Ditch Walk," which is basically a tiny 'stream' that used to be the town's irrigation system.
If that doesn't make you want to live there, what about the town's best and only bar, "The Feisty Goat", which in actuality, is two double wides pushed together.

I would live in Spokane, Washington, for one very important reason: it is probably the single most resourceful place you can be if you want to survive a zombie apocalypse.

In Spokane the winters are pretty cold complete with snow (so you can ski! Plus zombies tend to have a difficult time in snowy terrain). Then you have beautiful springs with mild temperatures and plenty of forest wild life (bountiful vegetables and game to hunt). Great summers for camping and a lot of foilage to hide away from the sun. Lots of lakes too, zombies can't swim and it helps you cool off.

Plus, before the zombie apocalypse happens, there is free city-wide Wifi, so no matter where you are you can always be up to date with Gordonandthewhale.com with your internet capable devices.

I myself am having a difficult time finding the perfect place to live in the US. I've visited the top choices, and still wish I could just combine them all into one supercity, in order to live in them all at once. I'm not sure what it would be called though. Portcatattle. Or maybe Seortcata. Regardless of the individual city, I'm 100% for living in the Pacific Northwest. In no place can you have mountains, islands, oceans, forests, and beards in a single location. Weather it be Seattle, WA, Portland, OR or Arcata, CA; my heart is set on the right shoulder of the US.

The best place to live in the United States? Waco, Texas. Why? First of all, it has all that cool history…you know, the Branch-Dividians and such. Who else can claim a cult stand-off with the government that ended in a…charred cult? Waco is also the Home of Dr. Pepper…and the Dr. Pepper Museum! 'nuff said. If you live there, you might also attend Baylor University, the best place ever (I'm kind of biased, I guess). Waco is about halfway between Dallas and Austin, giving it a prime location.
