BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE 3 is coming to a theater near you
Remember when the credits were rolling on BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE 2 and you said to yourself, “they’ll make a third movie when pigs fly”? Well you might want to look outside because the unthinkable is now a reality. Fox is moving forward with a third BIG MOMMA movie just when we thought we were safe.
The film is being written by Randi Mayem Singer, whose only other successful writing gig was for MRS. DOUBTFIRE back in 1993. Maybe he can channel the cross-dressing magic that helped him write MRS. DOUBTFIRE, which, according to Box Office Mojo, is the top-grossing movie about cross-dressing of all time. So as usual, another crappy Hollywood decision that comes down to money.
Men in drag is, for better or worse, a staple of the comedy genre. Just look at the Box Office Mojo list again: WHITE CHICKS, which is currently at number 5, is also getting a sequel. In a couple of weeks, I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF will roll into theaters and make Tyler Perry another million dollars courtesy of his cross-dressing Madea character. Both BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE movies made well over $100 million, and if this one does well I’m sure we can expect a fourth. It’s not like Martin Lawrence has anything better to do.
