BLACK HOLE getting a remake
A remake of 1979 sci-fi movie THE BLACK HOLE is happening and it will be with two guys that had a major part in the upcoming TRON sequel. TRON: LEGACY director Joseph Kosinski and producer Sean Bailey will be a part of THE BLACK HOLE remake, although it is unknown if Kosinski will direct the film. Read more after the jump.
The project also already has its writer in Travis Beacham, who worked on the story for the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake. Beacham does not have a whole lot on his resume, but he did co-write the screenplay for a film called DOG DAYS OF SUMMER, which I have never heard of, and I have feeling not many have.
Here is the synopsis to the original film, thanks to IMDb:
The crew of the spaceship Palamino stumbles across the ”lost” ship U.S.S. Cygnus, hovering on the edge of an immense black hole. Once aboard, they find the ship is manned by robots – it’s only human inhabitant, one Dr. Hans Reinhardt; an eminent scientist, missing for the past twenty years. His plan – to enter the Black Hole…Whether Dr. Reinhardt is a genius or a mad-man, one thing is for sure, he will not be denied his life’s dream. What lies beyond the Black Hole? Immortality…or, Oblivion…?
Not much has been revealed about this new BLACK HOLE’S plot, but Heat Vision, which broke the story, claims ” the [new] take does involve grounding the story in the science of a black hole, much more so than in the original.”
