Bryan Cranston to play villain in TOTAL RECALL reboot
There hasn't been much news on the front of the TOTAL RECALL reboot lately, except that the film has officially gotten an August 3, 2012 release date. Now though, Variety is reporting that Bryan Cranston is in negotiations to play the villain in the film.
It seems like Cranston is heavily transitioning right now from Breaking Bad TV star to the big screen. Other than TOTAL RECALL, the actor has eight separate roles in different films all in post-production right now. Among those are JOHN CARTER OF MARS, CONTAGION, and DRIVE.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Cranston will be playing Vilos Cahagan, the leader of EuroAmerica who is plotting to invade New Shanghai. Colin Farrell will be playing the lead role in TOTAL RECALL as Douglas Quaid, a factory worker who starts to think he's a spy, but isn't sure for whom. Len Wiseman is directing the reboot.
I'm thrilled about this. I have always thought Cranston would make a terrific movie villain ever since watching Breaking Bad. If I wasn't planning on seeing TOTAL RECALL before, I definitely am now.
