Cannes Film Festival 2011 gets a poster

The latest in a long line of gorgeous posters for the festival, the 2011 Cannes Film Festival has gotten a brand new one sheet, and it may be the best one yet.

Faye Dunaway adorns this stunningly sleek and seductive one sheet, which itself uses a really beautiful photo taken in 1970 by SCARECROW director Jerry Schatzberg. The photo itself comes from a series of photos taken for an Esquire magazine piece, where the actress would win a gig to star in the director’s rarely available PUZZLE OF A DOWNFALL CHILD.

That is, rarely available until now. The film has been restored by Universal and Carlotta Films, who will be bringing the new print to Cannes this year, with a release (at least in France) set for next fall. There’s no release set for this side of the pond, but don’t be shocked to hear that change some time relatively soon. The film is really rare and not yet available on DVD (Criterion, I’m looking at you to change this), so it’s really nice to see the film finally get a new print and a new release.
