Check out this website! Over 5,000 movie title screens

Bored at work? On your lunch break? Mastered all the levels and topped all the high scores on one of those free arcade sites? Need something new to occupy that 30 minutes to an hour? Then check this out!
In my perusing of the internets, I came across a website simply titled “Steven Hill’s Movie Title Screen’s Page.” It would seem that someone, I assume Mr. Hill, has taken the liberty of going through thousands of movies in order to take screen captures of their title pages. In other words, when the film’s title comes up during the credits, in whatever signature font it uses, this gentlemen takes a picture and uploads it to his database, which currently holds 5,994 title screens with new ones added frequently. In Mr. Hill’s words, “A unique catalog of movies…specifically, screen captures of movie title screens!”
The title sequence can be an integral part of a film. It, along with the font choice and placement, is supposed to capture the feeling you get from watching the film in mere seconds. It represents the film just as a logo does a company or an insignia does a group. With that being said, I, like the website’s creator, have a “great appreciation for title designs and the effect they can sometimes have on a movie.” Needless to say, I was thrilled to come across this website. Being a bit of a font freak, as well as a admirer of all things design related when it comes to cinema (posters, title sequences, trailers, etc.), it is something I can definitely spend endless amounts of time browsing and geeking out over. I hope you will share in my geek delight and check it out HERE!
What’s your favorite movie title screen? There are so many to choose from, I don’t think I can just pick one. I’m a big fan of the vintage title sequences of the 50s, as well as the more minimalist style of titling often seen today.
