For a lot of viewers, INCEPTION has been a great opportunity to see some great actors who've largely been confined to smaller movies. For example, Ellen Page hasn't been seen by plenty of moviegoers, as the JUNO phenomenon was penned in by age demographics. Same goes for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose highest grossing film to date gave him a role where his face was entirely hidden throughout the movie.

However, the INCEPTION star we're concerned with right now is Cillian Murphy. His performances largely consist of independent films, which range from Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE and 28 DAYS LATER to THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY. His biggest role is undoubtedly from BATMAN BEGINS, where he played the villain. Now he's been cast in yet another film. This one is called THE RETREAT. THE RETREAT is a small scale thriller that seems to follow the current trend of virus and infection based apocalypses. However, unlike Steven Soderbergh's CONTAGION, its characters aren't from every corner of the world and the narrative doesn't sprawl across the globe. Instead, the film's primary characters are vacationing on a remote island. The film's rising action coincides with a man in a biohazard suit washing up on the shore, informing the couple that everyone on the mainland has been killed by a virus.

Well, Cillian Murphy is set to play the lead role. His character's wife will be portrayed by Thandie Newton, whose performances are as scattered as a Scrabble board after some jerk puts down E-A-T on a triple word score. She's played Condoleeza Rice in Oliver Stone's W, but only after being in CRASH and NORBIT - two equally terrible movies.

Needless to say, I'm excited for the film. The premise sounds interesting enough, though I hope I'm not too tired of this concept by the time it hits theaters.
