  • Clint Eastwood making a film about J. Edgar Hoover?

    Picture used for Eastwood/Hoover Post

Clint Eastwood recently went the "inspired by a true story" route with INVICTUS. The director and icon has made plans to make a new film with strong historical ties. Eastwood has stated the process of bringing a biopic about former director of the F.B.I., J. Edgar Hoover to the big screen.

Hoover is a man with a past that seems ripe for cinematic drama. He was the first director of the F.B.I., and is also a very controversial figure largely due to certain actions made while running the F.B.I. Including being behind some disturbing and illegal practices. And there are also the well-known rumors of Hoover being a homosexual and cross-dresser.

The project already has a script written by Dustin Lance Black (Oscar winning screenwriter of MILK). Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment previously attempted to develop the project at Universal. Universal is no longer involved, but Imagine still is, as the company will be working with Eastwood on the biopic. The project is currently studioless, but I don't expect that to be a problem for the film since it has a script written by Black, an obviously talented writer (and fairly recent Oscar winner) and highly-regarded Eastwood behind it.
