COMIC-CON 09: Gary Oldman claims BATMAN 3 begins shooting next year
If the rumblings from San Diego are true, it would seem that Commissioner Gordon (and the whale) himself, Gary Oldman, has claimed that the third installment of BATMAN will begin shooting next year.
Here’s what Oldman had to say at the BOOK OF ELI panel today, when asked when the next BATMAN could be expected:
“I think the next Batman is next year. We start shooting next year. You didn’t hear that from me.”
This is an odd bit of news, seeing how it is widely known that Nolan just began production on his latest film, INCEPTION. I highly doubt that Nolan would finish INCEPTION going right into the next BATMAN, in only a year’s time no less. Mr. Nolan is known to be quite meticulous, and has said on more than one occasion that he works with a very “one film at a time” mindset. The amount of pre-production alone that BATMAN would require would likely fall in line with when Nolan will be doing post-production on INCEPTION. Not to mention the undertaking BATMAN 3 is and will be for Nolan & Co., who have the overwhelmingly daunting task of living up to the tour de force that was THE DARK KNIGHT.
This news might possibly be chalked up to Oldman just rousing up the crowd. Or perhaps not. As they say, only time will tell on what is merely a rumor at this point.
