CRAZY HEART trailer
The awards-getting buzz for CRAZY HEART has been very strong as late, with many pointing to Jeff Bridges’ performance as Oscar worthy. Today, we get our very first look at Bridges’ “Bad Blake” in action with the trailer for the film.
The trailer plays up the strength of Bridges’ performance, calling his work “the performance of a lifetime.” We also get a look at Robert Duvall, Colin Farrell, and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s roles in the film. As I’ve suspected, it looks like Gyllenhaal’s journalist character finds herself romantically involved with Blake as he tries to find his way back to rock stardom and a little redemption. It’s a solid trailer, and I’m pleased to see that it’s not over-the-top with the gritty story. It would be very easy for this plot to verge into melodramatic territory, but CRAZY HEART looks to be taking a strong stance that will probably make the film pack more of an emotional punch. I am quite excited to see Bridges’ performance and hope it’s as good as everyone is saying. This trailer is an excellent start.
