David Cronenberg’s THE TALKING CURE is now A DANGEROUS METHOD
David Cronenberg's latest is going through yet another change. Last month we told you that Viggo Mortensen will be taking over for Christoph Waltz and now it appears the film will be getting a name change as well. The film (based on Christopher Hampton's play The Talking Cure) was originally to be called that as well, but now it will be known as A DANGEROUS METHOD.
The story is centered on the relationship between famed psychiatrists Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung in the early days of psychoanalysis. Jung becomes romantically involved with one of his patients, a young woman named Sabina Spielrein brought to Jung by her father. Spielrein transforms from a deeply disturbed woman in her late teens to a reasonably well-adjusted medical student and then practitioner, with the help of Jung and his "talking cure."
Filming is currently scheduled to begin in May with a top notch cast that includes Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung, Keira Knightley as Sabina Spielrein, and Mortensen as Sigmund Freud. Mortensen has also signed on for Cronenberg's EASTERN PROMISES sequel as well. Vincent Cassel has also been cast in A DANGEROUS METHOD. His character has yet to be announced. The film will be shot on location in Berlin, Vienna, and Zurich.
Currently there is no release date for this film.
