If you haven't read The Goon by Eric Powell, do yourself a favor and put down your copy of Scott Pilgrim vol. 6 for a second, and go pick up one of the latest trades. Actually, the comic is so good even checking out one issue will probably sell you. The Goon is a stylized, depression-era story centering around The Goon and his partner Franky, who have tasked themselves with getting rid of the town zombies that have been re-animated by a priest hellbent on taking over the city. There are other villains as well, but that's the gist of it. It's crude, tasteless and very well drawn. It's a world you want to stay in for awhile, then dust yourself off and go about your business.

David Fincher has been trying for some time to get funding for an animated version of the comic going for quite some time. Paul Giamatti lends his voice for Franky, and the duo both headed down to Comic-Con over the weekend to try and drum up some buzz. Clancy Brown voices The Goon, but he was M.I. A. at the panel.

AintItCool had a first look at some still images back in March, but now you can check out the teaser footage for THE GOON after the jump!

I'd invest! Wouldn't you?
