David Koepp feeling a RUSH
Big time screenwriter and occasional director David Koepp has signed up for another directing project. Koepp previously worked on the screenplays for the very high-profile films INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, ANGELS & DEMONS, JURASSIC PARK, and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. Yet, the films he chooses to direct always seem to go relatively unnoticed, despite being quality films. Koepp directed the very entertaining ghost story/murder mystery STIR OF ECHOES, as well as THE TRIGGER EFFECT, and also the funny and surprisingly endearing GHOST TOWN starring Ricky Gervais.
Now, Koepp will be directing an action movie about a man who rides a bike for a living in PREMIUM RUSH. The film is about a bike messenger who picks up an envelope that a crooked cop is desperate to get his hands on, leading the cop to chase the messenger all over New York City. As you would probably expect from this synopsis, the movie will be heavy on chase sequences.
PREMIUM RUSH is getting fast-tracked by Sony. The company wants to cast a leading man soon for the project. PREMIUM RUSH is set to be a big-budget action movie, making it likely to garner a lot more attention than Koepp’s previous directing efforts.
