David Schwimmer is to direct his second feature film, the dark drama TRUST. The former “Friend” saw his directorial debut with the bland RUN, FATBOY, RUN. TRUST is based on a story by Schwimmer, which involves a family’s response to an online sexual predator.

The film will star Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a teenage girl, played by Liana Liberato, who befriends a sexual predator on the internet who is pretending to be another teen. There has been no report yet of who will play the sexual predator.

This is new territory for Schwimmer, who is generally considered a “funny” guy and many are speculating whether he can pull it off. With Owen and Keener attached, there are at least two very strong votes of confidence.

Keener stars in Spike Jonze’s WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and Owen can be seen in the recently released drama THE BOYS ARE BACK.

Shooting on the film will begin next month in Michigan.
