Del Toro to make a HOBBIT cameo
There have been slim pickings on news when it comes to Guillermo Del Toro’s HOBBIT movie. This is to be expected since filming hasn’t started and, as far I know, the script and casting are still being worked out. There have been rumors and a lot of talk, but nothing really concrete, unless you count the small cameo Del Toro just revealed.
The information comes from a German interview where the director was discussing an unrelated topic. If you’re fluent in German, you can watch the entire video here. The cameo was to be expected since Peter Jackson inserted himself into each of the LORD OF THE RINGS movies, but only for a split second. Guillermo has slightly more ambitious plans.
“I had a hand on the design of the creature and I will personally sculpt the appliances that will be applied on my face and hands. I used to sculpt the creatures for NECROPIA (my FX company) and I miss it a bit. I will have a line or two and die quickly.”
Del Toro is well-known for his amazing creature design and I can’t wait to see what he come up with for himself. Peter Jackson’s cameos were limited to just a little make-up, so it’s nice to see that Del Toro is stepping up his game for the next film! He will obviously be playing a monster, though he gives no clues as to what that monster might be. Maybe a troll or a goblin.
