Disney calls off WEDDING BANNED

OLD DOGS is one of those films that I am dying to see (when it comes out on DVD) just because of its horrible reviews and poor returns at the box office. I'm pretty sure I know what all the fuss is about and am not willing to shell out all the dough necessary to see it in the theater - with gas, ticket, and concession prices being what they are. It seems the effects of such a stinker of a film are having lasting effects on the career of Robin Williams and, by association, Diane Keaton and Anna Faris.
Keaton and Farris were due to co-star in the film WEDDING BANNED alongside Williams. Disney Chairman Rich Ross, has now made an executive decision to cut the project. This is the second of such announcements, as recently Ross decided to axe production on the 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA remake. I don't know about you, but I am beginning to like this Ross guy.
All hope is not lost for WEDDING BANNED, as the production company behind the film, Mandeville Films, is still free to shop the film around to other studios.
WEDDING BANNED centers on a divorced couple (Williams and Keaton) who kidnap their daughter (Faris) on her wedding day in order to prevent her from making the same mistakes they did. As they try to evade the authorities and the jilted groom, the parents rekindle their romance.
The movie was to begin shooting next year. Robin Williams is one of those actors that makes some interesting acting decisions. He was in one of my favorite films of the year, WORLD'S GREATEST DAD, but really hit a low with OLD DOGS. I genuinely believe the man to be funny and at times he has proven himself to be a solid actor in some of his dramatic roles. Hopefully, he can come back from these two major disappointments.
