Everyone has an opinion of AVATAR…but what does Steven Spielberg think?
Just yesterday, I explored the novelty behind one director commenting on another director’s work. In that case, it was James Cameron and his thoughts on TERMINATOR SALVATION. It goes without saying the stock that man’s opinion has on such a matter. But what about the case of one Hollywood titan commenting on another Hollywood titan’s work? Though he may not be in some way related to the film, like Cameron and TERMINATOR SALVATION, Spielberg had a brief, yet bold statement on Cameron’s latest epic sci-fi AVATAR after seeing the film in a private screening held by Cameron himself.
So what did Señor Spielberg compare the experience of watching the film to? STAR WARS. Yes, Spielberg said seeing AVATAR for the first time was akin to the first time he saw A NEW HOPE. Here’s what he apparently had to say:
“The last time I came out of a movie feeling that way it was the first time I saw STAR WARS.” Another outlet quoted him as saying the similar statement “The most evocative and amazing science-fiction movie since STAR WARS.”
Yes, of course Spielberg is just a man and that is just his opinion…but he’s also the man and his opinion carries a little bit more weight amongst us film freaks than say H@nSh0t1st77 or AVATARtarBINKS69. Plus, the guy knows a thing or two about cat-eyed blue people. After all, he did executive produce FREAKAZOID!
