Expendables cast grows more awesome
Sylvester Stallone’s sense of showmanship continues into the new year. In 2008, the actor showed that he knew how to give audiences exactly what they wanted with RAMBO, the brutal fourth film of the RAMBO series. The awesomeness continues with his next project, THE EXPENDABLES. It “follows an “expendable” team, hired to do jobs that no one else can or will,” so right off the bat you can expect crazy action.
Back in November, we told you about the great action-studded cast that Stallone had acquired: himself, Jet Li, and Jason Statham. Pretty great, no? But Stallone has been busy since November and 3 more more names have been added:
1. Randy Couture – Coulture is a former heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship with a few film credits under his belt.
2. Forest Whitaker – Whitaker requires no introduction. It’ll be interesting to see how this Oscar winner fits into this mix of tough-men. That’s not to say that Whitaker can’t be intimidating, just watch his terrifying, Oscar winning performance in 2006’s THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND.
3. Dolph Lundgren – This has to be the most exciting addition to this stellar cast. Lundgren is the Swedish-born actor who uttered the famous words, “I must break you,” in Stallone’s ROCKY IV. THE EXPENDABLES will mark the first time the actors have been reunited on screen! I hope this means we get to see them throw a few punches at each other, though I suspect this time they’re on the same team.
I know you’re excited, but calm down. The movie won’t hit theaters until 2010. In the meantime, I recommend heavy doses of ROCKY and RAMBO movies every four hours.
