We're all looking forward to the on-screen pairing of funny people Steve Carell and Tina Fey in the upcoming film DATE NIGHT, no matter how unlikely their coupledom may seem.  Today comes news that the two could join forces once again in MAIL-ORDER GROOM, a film about a desperate single woman who orders a husband from Eastern Europe.

Based on an idea from "30 Rock" co-executive producer and Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, the script was written by Robert Carlock and Scott Silveri and is currently in the rewriting process with Glenn Ficarra and John Requathe (BAD SANTA and I LOVE YOU, PHILLIP MORRIS) behind the pen.

As promising as that concept might sound, the idea of the two reuniting again on a film seems a little too much, too soon.  There's no denying that Fey and Carell are very funny people, but they do run the risk of overexposure. It is exactly this popularity that may see one or both of the actors dropped from the project. They both have popular NBC shows and as soon as production ends on those shows they will begin to do publicity for DATE NIGHT. There is only a small window of time after the publicity is done for DATE NIGHT that the two will have to shoot MAIL-ORDER GROOM.

Currently, Warner Bros. is looking at directors for the project, so it seems like this film is on the fast track to get done. It is rumored that Jay Roach, Richard Linklater, and the team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are on the studio's shortlist.
