First look at MARMADUKE
USA Today has our first look at the upcoming live-action reimagining of the Marmaduke comic that is loved by some and hated by others. The site has posted an image that I’m guessing is from the film’s first poster, which you can see after the jump. The comic revolves around Marmaduke and his owners, the Winslows, who consist of the father Phil, mom Dottie, older daughter Barbara, and younger brother Billy. Each week, it delivers some not-so-funny observations on dog behavior.
Though the comic itself doesn’t exactly have much of a plot, director Tom Dey, along with writers Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio, have managed to squeeze one out for the film. According to Dey, it is “like a John Hughes movie with dogs.” He explains that “Marmaduke is a teenager, and he’s trying to find his way in the world. It’s a boy-meets-girl story, a coming-of-age and cautionary tale.”
The Great Dane himself will be voiced by Owen Wilson, whose voice seems somehow perfect for a dog. According to IMDb, Judy Greer and Lee Pace will play the parents, while the kids will be played by Caroline Sunshine and Finley Jacobsen. Additional voice talents include Emma Stone, Fergie, Ron Perlman, Jeremy Piven, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Look for the first trailer to premier in front of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKUEL.
