I think we are all just about over Comic-Con news. For me, it inspires a degree of envy that I am ashamed of. I’ve never been a comic book gal, but the way that comic books have influenced Hollywood in recent years has slowly begun to change this. This fact is something that I am not completely comfortable with just yet.

Some lucky enough to make it to Comic-Con this year were able to see some footage of James Gunn’s upcoming feature, SUPER. From what I’ve read, it was awesome. The footage was shared during the panel for the film, which featured the film’s stars like Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Nathan Fillion, and Michael Rooker, along with producers Ted Hope and Miranda Bailey, in addition to James Gunn himself. The film also stars Kevin Bacon, Linda Cardellini, Gregg Henry, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Stephen Blackehart, Lloyd Kaufman,Valentine Miele, Mikaela Hoover, Andre Royo, and Steve Agee. What a lineup.

SUPER centers on Frank (Wilson), a married man whose drug-addled wife Sarah (Tyler) leaves him for Jacques (Bacon), a smooth-talking drug dealer. Frank turns his despair into action and transforms himself into The Crimson Bolt, determined to put an end to Jacques’ crimes. He is joined by Libby (Page), a teenage comic book geek, and together they plot to bring Jacques down. Check out a picture of Rainn Wilson as The Crimson Bolt after the jump.

Gunn says on his blog that they “won’t be releasing a trailer or footage onto the internet for a long while,” so this will have to hold you over. The blog also links you to some video of the panel, courtesy of Screen Crave.
