First trailer for PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME
What has a lot of sand, a lot of CG, and a dreamy male lead? If you guessed TREMORS, or any of its subsequent sequels, then you are correct. Unfortunately, that is not the film I am referencing here and therefore you do not win the prize. I’m not even going to tell you what the prize was. Okay, it was bottled sand art. Now you are really upset, aren’t you?
No, the film I am talking about here is PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME, for which the action-packed trailer has just hit the web. The film, based upon the popular video game of the same name, is directed by Mike Newell (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal (DONNIE DARKO) as the titular Prince Dastan. The film also features Gemma Arterton (QUANTUM OF SOLACE) as Dastan’s princess sidekick and Ben Kingsley as the film’s villain, Vizier, out for destruction via massive sandstorm. Unluckily for Vizier and luckily for Dastan and the rest of the world, the prince has a powerful dagger that can control time. And we all know the only thing that can break up sand is a knife…sandwich that is!
