I was completely captivated by the trailer for the Coen brothers latest film A SERIOUS MAN. It was unconventional, odd and darkly humorous. Everything we have come to know, expect and respect about their eclectic body of work. If you have not yet seen the trailer, I urge you to give it a viewing. A SERIOUS MAN tells the story of a Midwestern professor that has attempted to take his life seriously. Unfortunately, for him, no one else does. His parents do not. His children do not. His synagogue does not. His wife does not. Which is most likely why she is leaving him for one of his colleagues. In true Coenesque form, A SERIOUS MAN is a tale about an underdog of life working against his circumstances for something better. But not before we get to simultaneously laugh and share in his pain and unfortune.
