G.I. JOE and more in this week’s DVD, Blu-ray, and TV on DVD new releases
After a slow couple of past weeks for new releases, the first week of November brings us some great titles that warrant your purchasing. The two big releases of course being G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123. For you WATCHMEN fans comes THE ULTIMATE CUT, which interweaves the animated story within a story, TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER, with Zach Snyder’s previously released Director’s Cut. We also have a few remastered oldies but goodies coming our way with a Criterion Edition of WINGS OF DESIRE and a 50th Anniversary Edition of NORTH BY NORTHWEST, complete with a collectible book.
The title-o-the week I’ll be rushing out to buy:
My pick of the week is undoubtedly the 20th Anniversary Edition of SAY ANYTHING, both on Blu-ray and standard DVD. This is one of the greats of the 1980s, the romantic comedy genre in general and one of my all time personal favorites. Propose watching it with that special someone by parking your car outside of their house, blaring Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” and holding the DVD case high above your head. Just beware if they give you a pen after, it’s over…bitches, man!
Check out all the key releases for this week after the jump!
