Godard/Truffaut documentary gets international distribution deals; still no US distribution
I know it's like "totally cliche" for a film fan to cite Jean-Luc Godard and Francois Truffaut as two of their favorite directors, but there are good reasons why these two are so revered. Last year saw the premiere of Emmanuel Laurent's TWO IN THE WAVE (DEUX DE LA VAGUE) at Cannes. The film, narrated by historian and critic Antoine de Baecque focuses on the relationship between Godard and Truffaut.
The film has picked up distribution in the UK, Canada, Brazil, and France. There is no US distribution as of yet.
Hopefully there will be a US distribution deal soon. The film received mixed reviews after its Cannes premiere and I'm sure there is at least something to be gained from seeing it. The documentary wouldn't be out of place in arthouse theaters whose filmmakers often cite the directors as influences. The documentary can be seen at Visions Du Reel, the documentary festival in Nyon in Switzerland in mid-April.
