GREEN LANTERN set photo of Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond
Prepare yourself, folks. Sky's Showbiz page has unveiled a set photo of Peter Sarsgaard in full makeup for his portrayal of Hector Hammond in the upcoming GREEN LANTERN film. I have a lot of nerd faith in the film adaptation as I enjoyed the early draft of the script and the choice to have Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern himself. Now we get our first look at one of the film's antagonists and let me tell you...it's bizarre. No, seriously, it's REALLY bizarre. Think you know what a villainous Sarsgaard might look like? Oh crap, that's actually Rocky from the movie MASK. Okay, really, here's the real Hector Hammond.
There we go! Yes, this is in fact Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond walking to the costume fitting in full makeup. The Hector Hammond from the comics has had two different versions: one with a giant deformed head, and the other version where he is just really smart and normal looking. I figured they would go with the latter of the two, but it appears I was very wrong. Props to the GREEN LANTERN crew for staying true to the original comic vision. If anything, this shows that the GREEN LANTERN film is not looking to be ultra-realistic and dark, but is instead going for more of a Marvel-esque tone.
