    halle berry

I was so happy when Halle Berry won an Oscar for MONSTER’S BALL because the movie finally showed her true potential and she was recognized for it. She’s a great actress who is more than a pretty body and the crappy action movies that she constantly insists on starring in. Unfortunately, DARK TIDE probably won’t do much to change this trend.

The actress is in talks to star in the movie, which will be directed by Clark Johnson, who directed the crappy action flick, S.W.A.T., back in 2003. Though, to be fair, a look at his IMDb page shows that he also directed some brilliant episodes of The Wire and The Shield, so Johnson isn’t all mindless action.

DARK TIDE will be about “a diving instructor (Halle Berry) who returns to the deep after a near-fatal incident with a Great White shark.” Is it just me or this some kind of strange mix of Moby Dick and CLIFFHANGER? Of course, that comparison only works if her return to the water is met by a group of ruthless criminals, as well as the Great White. The full details of the script are not known yet.

I keep waiting for Halle Berry to make another great movie that demonstrates her full range as an actress, instead of her ability to be nominated for Razzies. The best part of winning an Oscar is that actors get flooded with movie offers. She just makes crappy choices.
