    Hugo Weaving

We might be getting the villain before the hero with CAPTAIN AMERICA. A move that seemed unlikely a few days ago when it was reported that John Krasinski was the top choice to play the super hero in the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA. However, as so many of you know, it wasn’t very long before that report was declared false, and it was made known that the studio actually has a short list for the role with actors Garrett Hedlund, Mike Vogel, and Chris Evans, but not John Krasinski. Well, the search for the film’s villain, the Red Skull, seems to be getting along much easier. Those behind the CAPTAIN AMERICA know who they want for the role, and appear to be close to getting him.

According to Heat Vision , Hugo Weaving is in talks to be the Red Skull. Weaving was in CAPTAIN AMERICA director Joe Johnston’s last film, THE WOLFMAN. Making you wonder if Johnston thought something like “man, finding a Captain is tough, why don’t we just get the villain of the way and try to grab Hugo. I know he is great and can certainly be appropriately menacing”. Plus, Weaving is not a tough sell as a villain; he was strong as the creepy, but strangely cool evil Agent Smith in the MATRIX trilogy. However, there was probably a little more that went into arriving on Weaving on than this, probably.

The article suggests that this potential move should be done very soon if it is going to happen. Mentioning that the negotiations are in “a delicate stage,” and then pointing out that Marvel is known for often not being very flexible when it comes to certain demands with their films. If Weaving does become the Red Skull is anyone going to complain? Certainly not me, what about you?
