Idris Elba joins cast of THOR
Idris Elba, who many of you probably know from his extensive TV work, has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of THOR.
Elba played Russell “Stringer” Bell on the very acclaimed TV series “The Wire.” He also appeared in several episodes of “The Office” in its fifth season, during which he played Charles Miner, a man the corporate office sends to the Scranton branch to make sure everything runs smoothly. Elba was also recently on the wrong side of fatal attraction in the woman-stalker film, OBSESSED, which also starred Beyoncé and Ali Larter.
In THOR, Elba will be playing Heimdall, who is the guardian of Asgard. After doing some research on the character, it does not seem like Heimdall will be a huge part of the film (although, I am not 100% sure of this).
Shooting is set to beginning in January for THOR. The film is scheduled to be released on May 20, 2011.
