Kyle Gallner (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET reboot), Kathryn Morris (“Cold Case”), Jim Belushi (“According to Jim” and the upcoming Polanski flick, THE GHOST WRITER) and Sarah Hyland (“Modern Family”) have just signed on with Denise Richards, Ryan Pinkston, Maeve Quinlan and Chris Murphy to star in Asher Levin’s screenplay, MOTHER’S LITTLE HELPERS. Described as a “coming-of-age” story, the film “centers on a rebellious teen (Gallner) who finds himself at an academy under the guidance an eccentric headmaster who’s a former rock ‘n’ roll roadie. When his time at the academy might be cut short, the teenager discovers a way to afford his new lifestyle and education by becoming an escort catering to the desperate housewives in town.” Levin will also be taking the director’s chair.
Graham Larson (Lookout Films) and Danny Roth (StoneBrook Entertainment) are producing, with private investor Mickey Gooch financing and executive producing the film. Shooting began on LITTLE HELPERS this week in L.A.
Since the actor playing the “eccentric headmaster who’s a former rock ‘n’ roll roadie” hasn’t been announced, I’m going to assume (and not make an ass out of you or me) it’s Belushi. If my intuition is right, kudos to the team for casting him in this role. I haven’t seen much of this man in film in a long time, so it’s nice to have him back.
