Indie Spotlight: Trailer and DVD art for THE DRIFTER
Two summers ago, iconic surfer Rob Machado set out for Indonesia. But what he found there was beyond the typical surf trip he’d been taking for years. Instead of just hitting the waves and living the easy life, the trip allowed Machado to finally be alone in his own head, surrounded by the vast ocean so much of his life had been dependent on. THE DRIFTER follows that journey.
The film is going to feature music from an amazing array of artists, including Rob Machado himself, The Black Keys, The Raconteurs, Iron & Wine, Tegan & Sara, Dr. Dog, Bon Iver, MGMT, and The Shins.
The trailer ends with an interesting observation right from Machado’s mouth, “you dream of the perfect wave, the perfect job, the perfect house, but when we get there, we dream of something else.” It’s already a very visually interesting trailer, and this hints to some of the depths the film will go.
