Today the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal will indeed star in the Prince of Persia : Sands of Time. It is an adaptation of the popular video game brought to the big screen by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer films. Along with Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton has been cast as the female lead. Prince of Persia tells the story of Dastan(Gyllenhall), a young prince in sixth centruy Persia who must join forces with Tamina(Arterton), an exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. If it ends up looking anything like the game, Brukheimer is sure to have another hit franchise on his hands. Production is set to start in July.
