James Franco set to star in RISE OF THE APES
If ever there was a good time be be James Franco, now is that time. Just earlier today we reported that Franco would be starring in RICKY STINICKY and that was all good and well. But no one was chomping at the bit to see Franco play a dude with a funny name. However, seeing Franco fight a bunch of CG gorillas as they take over the world? Now, that's what I'm talking about! Not that you need more convincing, but check out more details on the role he will play after the jump...
The news of Franco's casting comes from the good folks at Deadline, who are stating that the 20th Century Fox signed him up to star in the PLANET OF THE APES prequel just earlier today. The film will begin shooting on July 5th and is aiming for a Summer 2011 release. Franco has worked with the studio recently while teaming up for the Danny Boyle directed film 127 HOURS (a film about a trapped hiker who loses his arm trying to escape death). Franco will play the scientist at the center of the creation of intelligent ape design. Considering the film is titled RISE OF THE APES, one can only imagine things will not turn out so great for Franco's innocent little experimentation. Stay tuned as more casting unfolds for the film!
How are you feeling about Franco's new leading role? Does he have what it takes to helm the same intellectual property Charlton Heston once claimed? Leave your thoughts below!
