    Joe Wright

Earlier this week, word on the street was that director Joe Wright would be reteaming with his ATONEMENT and PRIDE & PREJUDICE leading lady, Keira Knightley, for the MY FAIR LADY remake once attached to Danny Boyle. But now those reports have been shot down, and by none other than Wright himself, which called them “all a lie.” So that’s a no, Joe? Wright admits that “he had mulled over the idea for a couple of days after the script was sent to him, as he would do with any other project, but decided to pass on the opportunity.” That script, of course, was written by actress Emma Thompson, who also penned NANNY MCPHEE and 1995’s adaptation of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY.

As far as Knightley’s involvement with the project, Wright commented, “Keira might well do it.” After his stern denial of his helming the project, a seemingly uncertain answer like that is nearly a golden guarantee that Knightley is still on board. Now that Boyle and Wright are both off the directors’ list, who would you like to see take over the project?
