The Legendary action director John Woo is gearing up to make 1949,  a big budget romance. Based on true events at the end of WWII and the final years of the Chinese Civil War, the $40 million Chinese language film will star Chang Chen and Korea’s Song Hye-kyo. Woo will start on the film as soon as he finishes his upcoming epic movieRed Cliff. The film was written by the screenwriters of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon so it does have the potential to be good. Filming is set to start in December eyeing a December 2009 release.
