Johnny Depp offered the lead of SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, not Tom Hardy
Apparently, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES may be a bit more extensive than Tom Hardy fans once thought.
According to The Wrap, Johnny Depp is being looked at to take up the lead role of the huntsman in the upcoming film, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, currently being set up at Universal. We learned that Tom Hardy was originally the first choice, with both Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron being looked to the play the film’s villain.
However, as mentioned above, Hardy is also set to play the villain in the upcoming third film in the Chris Nolan BATMAN run, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, come this spring.
This film is a revisionist take on the legendary tale of Snow White, which finds an evil queen hiring a bounty hunter, the huntsman, to find the recently escaped Snow White. He then learns that the queen is looking to kill the woman, which leads him to team with Snow White to take down the evil queen. Personally, there are very few actors that I’d rather see in this role than Hardy, but Depp is definitely an interesting choice. I think Hardy fits the role better, but Depp is still one of the best actors we have today, so it’s hard to argue.
