Think, if you compromise the look in anyway, it won't be the same, won't have the same affect. My point is if you tweak a character's disposition in any way or mess with the storline in such a way that it turns people off, it will turn P.E. fans-off! You don't want to do that, but then we all wouldn't be anticipating the release of PineApple Express's sequal, so my advice for Apatow is, "take your time!" Keep in mind, the balance between good actors and a good storyline is crucial to making a good movie.
