    LINCOLN LONG

Justin Long has joined James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn for Robert Redford’s THE CONSPIRATOR. The film centers around the aftermath of the assassination of president Abraham Lincoln and subsequent trial of a woman (Robin Wright Penn) who was tried as a conspirator on the killing. McAvoy will play her defense attorney who unwillingly has to defend her in front of a military court while Long will play his best friend, an amputee Civil War soldier.

This role would be a change up for Long, who typically plays the underdog or shy guy in rom-coms and more straightforward comedies. His latest notable role was that of the boyfriend to Alison Lohman’s cursed girlfriend in this past summer’s DRAG ME TO HELL. And then, of course, we all know him as the hoodied human embodiment of a Mac in Apple’s famous “I’m a Mac. I’m a PC” ads.

Redford’s THE CONSPIRATOR is one of a few upcoming films about Lincoln’s life and tragic death, along with Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN with Liam Neeson as the president.

With Long now cast, I think Redford should consider the title LINCOLN LONG.
