Justin Theroux to produce air guitar movie
Writer/director/actor/producer Justin Theroux has signed on to produce AIR GUITAR, a comedy about the world of competitive guitar playing without a guitar. Screenwriting team Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger are set to pen the script. The two have previously written together for TV shows like “Spin City” and “Just Shoot Me.” Theroux has no plans to direct the film at this point.
Based on the 2006 documentary AIR GUITAR NATION, as well as the book “To Air Is Human,” AIR GUITAR is likely to be a comedy in the realm of DODGEBALL and other affiliated films of the genre. I imagine that we can expect to see the usual cast of characters in AIR GUITAR and, considering that Theroux wrote TROPIC THUNDER, this does not seem to unlikely.
Theroux most recently wrote the script for IRON MAN 2 and is starring in David Gordon Green’s latest film YOUR HIGHNESS, co-written by Danny McBride.
