    Kevin Bacon

I can’t think of Kevin Bacon as a supervillain, though he has been pretty disturbing in movies like THE WOODSMAN. Director James Gunn does see him as a good bad guy, not only because he can play dark roles, but also because of his versatility in other movies. Gunn has just cast Bacon in SUPER, a superhero romantic comedy.

He will star opposite a fantastic cast that includes Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, and Liv Tyler. He’ll play the smooth-talking Jacques, a drug-dealer who steals the girl friend of Wilson. Distraught by the events, Wilson takes on the persona of The Crimson Bolt, a superhero who isn’t exactly super.

This is what James Gunn had to say about the casting of Kevin Bacon:

“Kevin Bacon is one of the few actors nimble enough to give life to Jacques, our supervillain with a nice streak. We need to love Jacques even while he’s doing horrible things – Kevin is one of the only actors I know who can pull that off.”

Given this description from the director, I’m intrigued by what Bacon might do with the role. Currently, the movie doesn’t seem to have a release date, but we’ll bring you more details as they become available.
