    Warner Bros.
and Capcom are developing a feature film based on the hit video game Lost Planet. Warner will handle worldwide distribute and Japanese publisher Capcom will co-finance the venture.

The screenplay is being written by David Hayter, who just wrapped up Zack Snyder’s Watchmen for WB.

Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Steven Paul are producing through the company they formed for fantasy films called Seaside Entertainment.

Lost Planet has sold over 2 million units since it’s release in Japan in 2006 and North America in early 2007. A sequel to the game is believed to be in progress.

The videogame revolves around an expedition to an ice planet that harbors an energy source with the potential to save mankind.

Capcom has had a lot of success with it’s screen adaptations of their games including three films based on Resident Evil, and a fourth one already being planned. They are becoming even more active, partnering with Hyde Park Entertainment for a live action version of their game Street Fighter and Paramount for a feature version of Onimusha.

Seaside Entertainment has been busy putting together a deal with DreamWorks for Steven Spielberg’s passion project - a 3-D live action feature adaptation of the futuristic Japanese manga classic Ghost in the Shell.

David Hayter has worked with Avi Arad since the producer ran the film division of Marvel Comics. He is best known for his writing work on X-Men and X2, but also crafted a lot of early drafts of superhero movies for Arad. Gamers also known him very well as the voice of Solid Snake in the hit Metal Gear Solid videogame series put out through Konami.
