MAN OF STEEL moves to 2013

While WB and DC may not be having a huge presence at this year’s Comic Con, they are definitely using this time to break some huge news.

WB has announced (via Superhero Hype) that they will be releasing Zack Snyder’s much talked-about Superman film, MAN OF STEEL, on June 14, 2013. The film was originally slated for a December release next year, but with rewrites pending and a little film entitled THE HOBBIT taking the winter slot next year, WB has made the executive decision to shift things around a bit.

The film will go head to head against IRON MAN 3 for the king of the 2013 comic book tentpole, but with months spanning the two (IRON MAN hits on May 3), it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Overall, this news, while a bit out of the blue, is not only not shocking, but actually quite good. As a fan of the character and those involved with this take on the icon, the more time behind creating the project the better.
