With news of Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to DISTRICT 9 being hot off the presses, word comes of potential casting for ELYSIUM. And it's a name I would venture to say you're familiar with.

Deadline is reporting that Matt Damon is in early talks to star in the film, alongside D9's Sharlto Copely. The actor's attachment would certainly help the project find a distributor - a search which the director and studio, Media Rights Capital, will begin once the primary cast is assembled.

Another sci-fi adventure for Blomkamp, ELYSIUM is said to take place on another planet and, like his debut film, contain layers of sociopolitical ideas.

It goes without saying that Blomkamp's name has already gained the attention of many but, with Damon's name added to that list, ELYSIUM is already shaping up to be a highly anticipated film. And that's saying a lot since we know virtually nothing about it and its existence has only been made aware to us less than a week ago!
