    men in black

It’s been a few months since we’ve heard any MEN IN BLACK-related news. Back in April, we learned about a possible third part to the series when Sony made the announcement at ShoWest. Little was revealed then, other than their continued interest in the franchise, but the project seems to have some legs now.

Etan Cohen has been tapped to write the screenplay. He’s not exactly well-known, but with comic gems like TROPIC THUNDER, IDIOCRACY, and episodes of “King of the Hill” under his belt, he seems like the perfect guy to breathe new life into the franchise.

Of course, the question of the hour is whether Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be reprising their roles, but there is still no word on that, though I’m sure the studio will be throwing a lot of money their way. Actually, with Hollywood going reboot-crazy lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were replaced altogether in order to give the movie a fresher feel, which I think it needs after part 2.

Normally I frown on sequels, but the original movie and cartoon series that followed it still have a soft spot in my heart. Getting Etan Cohen to script the film is definitely a step in the right direction.
