• Michael Giacchino to provide score for LET ME IN; new poster for the film

With the trailer for Matt Reeves’ notorious remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (retitled LET ME IN) hitting last week, I think many who were suspect of the film had their fears calmed to a degree after they got their first real look at the Americanized version. Only to be replaced by new, legitimate fears as the film looks to be downright scary…and sweet…but in a scary way.

Well, if the trailer added clout to the film for you, what if I told you composer Michael Giacchino – or as I like to call him “our generation’s John Williams” – was providing the tunage? Yes, tis true! Giacchino announced, via his official site, that the score was one of the upcoming projects on his docket now that his gig on Lost has ended.

See the announcement, and a new poster for the film courtesy of Empire, after the break!

“It seems Michael has cut his post-Lost break short and is back writing already. Recently he scored the pilot episode to J.J. Abrams’ new sexy-spy-espionage show, Undercovers, and he’s also on musical duties for Matt (Cloverfield) Reeves’ new vampire/horror/romance movie Let Me In.

Undercovers will air in autumn (it’s unknown yet if Michael will continue to be involved past the pilot), and Let Me In is due out on 1st October.”

This comes as great but not surprising news as Giacchino scored Reeves’s CLOVERFIELD and frequently collaborates with J.J. Abrams, who himself has frequently collaborated with Reeves on projects like Felicity, THE PALLBEARER, and the aforementioned CLOVERFIELD. Giacchino has quite the impressive resume, having composed the scores for STAR TREK, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, SPEED RACER and many Pixar films including THE INCREDIBLES, RATATOUILLE, and UP for which he won an Academy Award.
