    Michelle-Williams

It was rumored that Scarlett Johansson was the top choice to play Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming Simon Curtis film, MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, but according to Production Weekly, Michelle Williams is in-talks for the role. Williams, who I regard as the better actress of the set, was also up against Amy Adams and Kate Hudson for the role. The film will begin shooting in June of 2010.

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN is based on the book by Colin Clark. Clark was an assistant director on the film THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL, starring Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. The film was an attempt by Monroe to escape being typecast as a dumb blond, but her style of acting caused clashes with her co-star/director Olivier immediately. Clark kept a diary of behind-the-scenes events that was published as “The Prince, the Showgirl and Me.” “My Week with Marilyn” was a follow-up to that book, chronicling the details of one week that was left out of the first book.
